Blauparts has observed the Jatco 5 speed auto transmissions ATF gets contaminated earlier then usual. The ATF has a dirty metallic tint as soon as 60,000 miles. We recommend an ATF fluid change every 50,000 miles.

Having a regular atf and filter service for your 5 speed Jatco automatic transmission is great preventive maintenance. Having a regular service interval for your transmission is much more logical and inexpensive in the long term. Neglecting the Jatco 5 speed transmission can lead to costly transmission repairs or even having to replace or rebuild a transmission for several thousands of dollars.
