What Is the Best GM Oil Change Interval?
Our Blauparts oil change kits are designed for factory-recommended GM oil change intervals. The recommended GM oil change interval for the Chevy Cruze diesel engines is 7,500 miles or one year, whichever occurs first. However, depending on difficult driving style and conditions, Blauparts recommends an earlier oil change interval. An earlier GM oil change interval is good preventative maintenance in an effort to minimize long-term engine repair costs. Our oils and filters are suitable for a longer oil change interval of up to 10,000 miles or more for individuals with a mild driving style.
What GM Engine Oil Type Should I Use In My Engine?
We suggest always using oils that specifically indicate a General Motors oil quality specification on the bottle (Example: Dexos1 or Dexos2). Dexos1 or Dexos2 oils have been created with your vehicle's engine design and style in mind. Using General Motors-approved specification oil will significantly improve your vehicle's mechanical longevity and performance. Many engines that use generic style engine oils will most likely have premature mechanical problems later in mileage (For example, premature oil consumption, worn engine internals, blown and worn turbochargers, prematurely plugged crank ventilation and PCV systems, plugged diesel particulate filters and catalytic converters).
General Motors Oil Changes and Warranty?
Blauparts recommends that any General Motors vehicle under factory warranty should use engine oil with formal General Motors Dexos1 or Dexos2 factory approvals for the required oil specification.
What's the Difference Between Oil That Meets an Oil Specification & Oil That Has OEM Approvals or an Approved Specification?
An oil that has an approval has received a formal letter of approval from the car manufacturer that the oil specified can be used in their engines. In contrast, an oil that meets an oil specification has not received a formal letter of approval from the car manufacturer.
