We understand that every customer's needs and budget are different when servicing the VW timing belt systems. Therefore, our Gen II BLAU® VW Timing Belt Replacement Kits are offered in three different ways: a basic, enhanced, and enhanced + (plus) kit. Depending on if you have a higher mileage vehicle you might choose our Enhanced+ Kit (Our most comprehensive kit). If your car is a little lower in miles and you feel several of the other timing belt-related components are still in good working order you can choose the simple Base VW timing belt kit.
As an independent VW specialist, we created and started selling timing belt kits back in the 1990s. For years we've been performing VW timing belt replacements in our own independent service facility, on customers' cars as well as our own test vehicles. We have replaced VW timing belt components on models ranging from the old VW TDi models to VW Phaetons. We're familiar with the detailed workings (ins & outs) of VW engines. This experience has helped us create VW timing belt kits that are specific to each model, including everything you'll need to make your installation go smoothly.

More Information About BLAU® VW Timing Belt Kits:
Like many other resellers, we used to source timing belts and tensioner parts from large warehouse distributors. That has now changed! In 2013 Blauparts established an exclusive partnership with Schaeffler Group Automotive, one of Germany's and Europe's largest industrial automotive companies. Schaeffler Group is an OFFICIAL O.E.™ (Original Equipment) manufacturer that has been supplying timing belt components under the INA brand for decades.
The Blauparts' Advantage

Timing Belt Tool Rental
Please Note: Our timing belt tool rental kits are no longer available for rental. All tool rental kits are available for sale in good used condition in our online catalog.
Blauparts' VW timing belt tool rental program allows technicians to use the special tools required, without a significant investment. As a courtesy and for a small fee ($75.00-$90.00), we offer the option of renting a VW Timing Belt Tool Rental Kit to customers who purchase one of our BLAU VW Timing Belt Replacement Kits. Our VW timing belt tool rental program allows technicians to use the special tools required, without the investment. For example, a set of special timing belt tools for a 3.0L engine can cost around $600 or more. VW Timing Belt Tool Rental Kits can be in your possession for a total of 7-days. We add appropriate transit time to your 7-day rental. When you receive your package, your invoice, and the tool kit itself will have the specified date that your tool rental kit is required back (received in our facility).
Rental Fee: The small rental fee we charge doesn't even cover the costs associated with this tool rental program. We offer this as a courtesy to our customers, whom we view as friends. Our VW Timing Belt Tool Rental Kit is not available without the purchase of a BLAU VW Timing Belt Replacement Kit. Also, due to the complications of international laws, shipping variables, duties, taxes, and returns, tool rental kits are not available for rental outside of the contiguous 48 US states. Thank you for your understanding.
Tool Deposit: A tool deposit is an amount of money put down at the time of tool rental to ensure the return of the tool kit and adherence to our rental policies, agreement, and procedures. This is a good faith tool deposit. The deposit amount varies depending on the approximate replacement cost of tools. The refund of your deposit is given when the tool kit has been returned in complete and good condition. For more information see our Tool Rental Policy.
Enhanced Timing Belt Kit Extras
Having everything at your fingertips during this job helps reduce frustration during reassembly. We include extras as a convenience for your technician, and ultimately to save you money, possibly hundreds of dollars in the long run. Around the VW timing belt interval mileage, due to age, the integrity of many seals and O-rings are worn out or very near the end of their service life. These extras should be replaced and are most easily accessible during timing belt service. It's also common that during VW timing belt service disassembly procedure certain hardware, O-rings, or clips are damaged or compromised and aren't re-usable for reliability reasons. Having all of these items at your fingertips during this crucial repair helps ease and reduce frustration during reassembly.
We include these extras as a convenience for your technician and ultimately to save you money, possibly hundreds of dollars in the long run. Nobody enjoys the frustration of running to the auto parts store in the middle of a repair (e.g. stripped bolt), or worse finding out months after completing your VW timing belt service, that one of these related items needs to be replaced and incurring addition labor costs. It makes sense to replace these extras now when they are easily accessible with the vehicle in the service position.
A Few Examples of Typically Worn Components and Useful Extras That We Include
Example VW 2.8L 30V V6
NOTE: Depending on VW application and engine type we include many other necessary and useful extras! Please find your vehicle application for specific kit contents.
Coolant Temperature Sending Unit w/ O-Ring and Clip: In our service facility we've found that the typical service life of this switch is around 80,000-90,000 miles. Replacing it during VW timing belt service is wise. The 2.8L engine is in the service position and the coolant system is drained. The temperature sending unit is easily accessed in the lower radiator hose.
Snub Mount: Most VW 2.8L engines that are serviced here at Blauparts have broken snub mounts and the rubber has begun to separate. This part is easy to replace when the vehicle is in the service position. A bad VW snub mount causes excess loads on the motor and transmission mounts, which eventually leads to their failure. It can also cause increased inner cv joint flex and subsequent wear.
Headlight Washer O-Ring: We want to help! We now include the headlamp washer O-ring. This O-ring is often ruined when disconnecting the headlamp washer hose, during front bumper cover removal, and while pulling the radiator valance forward. We've also outlined in detail the correct disassembly procedure in our instructions to prevent this from even happening. Blauparts is always trying to make our kits better.
OE specified 10.9 Grade Zinc Plated Crank Pulley Bolts: We include some extra hardware in case you happen to strip one out.
Loctite Anti-seize: Especially noticeable in the snow belt states is the effect of corrosive road salt. This often makes the disassembly of engine components more difficult. Anti-seize will come in handy to prevent excess corrosion now and in the future.
Loctite Thread Locking Compounds: 1 Blue Medium Grade. During factory engine assembly, a thread locker was used on applicable hardware, timing belt tensioner bolts, and studs. We include this so you can re-create these steps, just like the factory assembly procedure.
Example 1.9 TDI
NOTE: Depending on VW application and engine type we include many other necessary and useful extras! Please find your vehicle application for specific kit contents.
Water Pump Bolts: The heads on these bolts are known to become rounded during TDI water pump removal. New hardware is included so that proper torquing specifications are achieved upon water pump reassembly, just like from the factory.
Thermostat Housing and Thermostat Housing Bolts: The original ALH TDI thermostat housing is plastic and can become brittle over time. Replacing it is most easily done during timing belt replacement and while installing a new thermostat. We also include the hardware, just in case it's damaged during removal.
OE specified 10.9 Grade Zinc Plated Serpentine Pulley Bolts (Lower Crank): The serpentine pulley on TDI engines must be removed in order to install the new VW timing belt. During the removal process, it is likely that the heads of the Allen bit bolts will become rounded due to wrenching. This makes tightening back to the specified factory torque difficult. We include the O.E. specified 10.9-grade bolts to ensure that proper torquing specifications are achieved upon reassembly, just like from the factory. Tech Tip: Using higher grade bolts is not recommended here. Grades higher than 10.9 are more likely to shear and break off due to their inability to stretch.
EGR O-Ring Seal: Installation requires the use of the ALH camshaft locking tool. This tool rests on the valve cover gasket and cylinder head mating surface. Some of the Allen bit bolts on the back side of the valve cover can be difficult to reach and more easily done with the EGR removed. Over time the material can harden and can lose its ability to seal.
Vacuum Pump O-Ring Seal: The vacuum pump must be removed for the use of the cam timing tool. The rubber seal takes a compression set. Over time the material can lose its ability to seal and it's good practice to replace the O-ring to prevent an oil leak after the reinstallation of the ALH vacuum pump.
Motor Mount Bolts: To install the new VW TDI timing belt the motor mount bracket must be removed. VW recommends replacing these bolts. The engine bracket stretch bolts should be replaced every time they're removed. Both the frame rail bolts and engine bracket stretch bolts that we include are the latest Genuine VW part numbers. 2 motor mounts to engine bracket stretch bolts and 2 motor mounts to frame rail bolts. The frame rail bolts are also included, which technically can be reused. However, we include them to ensure a reliable repair.
Injection Pump Pulley Bolts: We include these Genuine O.E. VW bolts. They should always be replaced when loosened or removed. Checking and adjusting the ALH injection pump timing is necessary after installing the new TDI ALH timing belt. You may have to loosen and rotate the injection pump sprocket to achieve the correct timing.
Valve Cover Allen Bolts: During valve cover removal it's common to strip or round out a couple of these bolts. We include these very convenient bold to ensure peace of mind during reassembling.
Wheel Well Fender Skirt Sheet Metal Screws: The passenger side fender skirt must be removed during TDI VW timing belt installation. A few of these are likely missing from your car already so we include them for your convenience.
During factory engine assembly thread locker was used on applicable hardware, timing belt tensioner bolts, and studs. We include this so you can re-create these steps, just like the factory assembly procedure.

Blauparts Timing Belt Kit Customer Reviews and Feedback
What Our Customers Say...
"I am emailing because I was extremely satisfied with my recent order! It arrived very quickly. The kit was well thought out and had everything I needed, including tools I didn't think I'd need and one I would have overlooked! With one click of the mouse, I had it all... no endless searching for that hard-to-find part. Also, the step-by-step instructions really helped. You even indicated the fastener sizes so I could quickly load up the ratchet and 'get-er-done' fast! Finding affordable parts from a reliable source can be tricky. Your company is my go-to solution almost every time! Thanks again and I'll recommend you to anyone." - Michael O.
"I recently placed an internet order for a timing belt kit and tool rental. Prior to placing my order, I emailed a question about your tool rental program. My question was addressed quickly and kindly. After placing my order, it was quickly shipped and delivered within the time window promised. After my order was delivered, I jumped into repairs and was pleasantly shocked that I didn't have to go to the local parts store for ANYTHING to complete repairs! Your timing belt kit and tool kit truly had everything I needed and nothing I didn't. As an ASE Master Technician, I recognize and appreciate quality customer service, OE quality parts, and application-specific complete repair kits. Thanks." - Brad F.
"I must say that your team has put together the greatest kit I have ever seen for the TDI timing belt change. I think your instructions are even better than those shown in the Bentley manual. Thanks again for your efficient service!" - David R.
"I was amused when your instructions mention referring back to the Bentley service manual for detailed instructions. I found your instructions and diagrams to be far superior. Much better detail in your instructions overall." - Mark R.
"As a manufacturing engineer who makes a living writing technical instructions and methods, I found your instructions to be outstanding. They're very well written, easy to follow, and the illustrations are far superior to any service manual I've seen. The various bulletins and warnings describing potential pitfalls not mentioned in the service manual were also extremely helpful. Although I'm an experienced mechanic licensed by the FAA, I've always been a little intimidated by the complexity of the 30 valves V6. Thanks for the high-quality parts, tools, and customer service. I will do business with Blauparts in the future. Thank you." - Geoff M.
"I am sure you have heard it before, but I wanted to say that the parts were great, but the instructions were ABSOLUTELY first rate. When it was time to start the motor back up, I was confident that the job had been done correctly and that it would be successful. Thanks for the great kit!" - Trent S.
"I just wanted to let you know that I was very satisfied with the timing belt kit that I obtained from your company. The parts were very well packaged, the included instructions detailed and informative, and the customer service was excellent!" - Dan
"Absolutely Superb! Thanks for creating such outstanding instructions. The Factory manual doesn't cover anything for proper per-tensioning. Without your guide, I would have destroyed my V8. Thanks."
"Thank you for the outstanding service. The timing belt kit and tool kit arrived sooner than expected, well packaged, and complete." - David R.
Thank you so much! You made this job extremely straightforward, saved me a lot of headaches, and a lot of money!" - Matthew B.
"I just wanted to thank you for the great experience I had ordering my timing belt kit from you for my V6! You guys are an awesome company. I've never gotten such a great deal and experience buying auto parts as I did with you guys. Thanks again." - Thomas C.
