Although this is demonstrated on a 2019 Volkswagen Jetta 1.4T gasoline engine, the procedures also apply to the following VW Jetta, Golf, and Taos models:

VW 508 00 Oil Specification Notes & Informative Information
All OEM-approved VW 508 00 oils are SAE 0W-20 viscosity. VW 508 00 engine oils use a variety of part numbers. USA spec VW 508 00 oils are known as part number GE600201QDSP and European spec VW 508 00 oil use part number GE525771LDSP or G052577M2. For the very best in fuel economy, to extend engine performance, and lower engine emissions Blauparts recommends using euro spec bottled VW 508 00 engine oils. Step-by-Step VW Jetta Oil Change Instructions on 1.4T & 1.5T Engines
How To Step 1
Begin by confirming that the engine is warm. This will allow the oil to flow more thoroughly from the engine while it's being drained.
How To Step 2
To gain access to the bottom side of the engine we are going to lift the vehicle. In our case, we are using an automotive lift. To confirm you're lifting the vehicle correctly you can reference your factory owner’s manual for the proper vehicle lift point locations and procedures.
How To Step 3
Remove the splash pan. This is held in place with a total of 8 T-25 screws, one is located on the front side of the pan, three are located on the driver's side, and four are on the passenger side. Last remove three T-45 bolts on the rear side of the splash pan. As you remove the last bolt support the rear of the splash pan.
Release the two locking tabs located on the front side of the pan. At the same time, pull and remove the splash pan to the rear of the vehicle.
How To Step 4
Using an oil filter wrench loosen and remove the oil filter in a counterclockwise direction. This is located on the lower front side of the engine. Allow the VW oil to drain into a suitable drain pan.
How To Step 5
Lubricate the seal on the new VW oil filter with fresh oil. This will allow the new oil filter to correctly seal and mate to the engine and aid the oil filter removal during your next oil change.
How To Step 6
Begin installing your new VW oil filter by threading it onto the engine in a clockwise direction. Tighten the oil filter to a snug hand tight feel, 20-newton meters or 15 foot-pounds.
How To Step 7
Using a rag, clean any excess oil from around the oil filter area.
How To Step 8
Using a 19-millimeter wrench loosen and remove the oil pan drain plug in a counterclockwise direction. This is located on the rear backside of the VW oil pan. As you remove the drain plug, allow the oil to drain into a suitable drain pan.
How To Step 9
Once the VW oil is drained re-install your drain plug and sealing washer, threading it in a clockwise direction. Using a 19-millimeter socket and torque wrench, tighten the drain plug to the recommended torque specification of 22ft-lbs.
How To Step 10
Using a rag, clean any excess oil from around the drain plug area.
How To Step 11
Remove the oil fill cap and begin filling the engine with the required VW 508 00 specification VW engine oil. The engine oil fill capacity for the Volkswagen 1.4 liter or 1.5 liter turbocharged gasoline engine is 4 liters.
How To Step 12
Once you’ve completed filling the engine with oil, reinstall the VW oil fill cap.
How To Step 13
Start the engine and let it idle for 20-30 seconds. This will allow the engine's oil system to pressurize, giving you the opportunity to inspect and confirm that you have no oil leaks coming from the oil filter and drain plug areas.
How To Step 14
Once you've confirmed you have no leaks you can reinstall the splash pan. First, line up and slide the front tabs of the pan in place. Begin by hand tightening the three T-45 bolts at the rear of the pan. Next, install the remaining eight T-25 screws on the sides and front of the splash pan. Last, evenly tighten all splash pan mounting hardware.

With the vehicle on a level surface, check the oil level reading using the engine oil dipstick.
Extract the VW dipstick, thoroughly clean it with a rag, and re-insert it into the engine. Once again, remove the dipstick confirming that the oil level is in the middle of the minimum and maximum level marks. Keep in mind that oil expands and contracts. As the engine reaches full engine operating temperature the oil level of the 4-liter fill capacity will be at the maximum level mark on the engine oil dipstick. Re-insert the dipstick once the oil level has been confirmed.

Dispose of waste oil responsibly by taking it to a certified recycling collection center.

Note in your records the current mileage at the time of oil change, as well as, when you'll need to change your oil next.
