How To Step 1
Begin by accessing the glove box on the passenger side of the vehicle.
How To Step 2
With the glove box now open, disconnect the damper cord linkage located on the right side of the glove box. While slightly lifting the glove box, firmly pull the base of the linkage back towards the rear of the vehicle until you hear and feel it disengage. Allow the now disconnected cord to retract.
How To Step 3
Compress or lightly distort the two support tabs on the glove box's top corners. While compressing the tabs, pull out on the glove box, allowing it to lower. Continue lowering the glove box to allow the 3 hinge tabs at the bottom to be released. Once released, place the glove box out of the work area.
How To Step 4
Remove the cabin air filter cover by pressing and releasing the 2 locking tabs located on each side of the cover. At the same time, pull the cover in an outward direction.
How To Step 5
Remove the old Ram 1500 interior cabin air filter. While the filter is removed, inspect the cabin filter housing area for any debris and clean it as needed.
How To Step 6
Begin installing the new Ram 1500 cabin filter by sliding it into the filter housing. Confirm that the airflow direction of the new filter is pointing down during installation.
How To Step 7
Reinstall the cabin filter housing cover with the airflow direction pointing downward. Align the cover and the 2 outside mounting tabs, pressing the cover against the housing until you hear or feel the tabs click or lock in place.
How To Step 8
Reinstall the glove box by aligning and inserting the 3 lower glovebox hinge tabs into the dash. As you tilt the glovebox upwards, pull out the retracted damper cord and keep hold of it while at the same time relieving pressure from the 2 tabs on the back side of the glovebox, pushing it upwards to allow the corner tabs to clip or lock back in place.
How To Step 9
Reinstall the glove box damper cord linkage and place any contents back into the glove box, confirming that it closes and latches correctly.
Helpful Ram 1500 Cabin Air Filter Replacement Reminders
What Does Your Ram Cabin Air Filter Do?
The cabin filter is an overlooked maintenance item on most vehicles. The pollen filter is designed to precisely remove pollen, allergens, and road dust from the air before entering your Ram's interior cabin. The carbon-activated filter allows the same filtration as the pollen filter but also filters odors, gases, and harmful air pollutants. These cabin filters allow fresh filtered air to be delivered to the driver and passengers of the vehicle for health, safety, and driving comfort.
Ram Cabin Air Filter Replacement Intervals
We recommend replacing the Ram 1500 cabin filter once a year or every 20,000 miles, whichever occurs first.
