Your VIN (vehicle identification number) is one way to find the engine code. Some customers have contacted their dealer with their VIN and requested what engine code corresponds with their vehicle. Only an authorized Audi dealer can access the bill of material info, which reveals what engine was used in your car and the subsequent engine code. BLAU™fergnugen is an independent Audi parts specialist and doesn't have access to this bill of material info. We therefore cannot tell you what your engine is.

Audi 4 Cylinder Turbo Engine Codes
Audi A4 2000
AEB, ATW, AWM
1.8 Liter Models: You'll need to remove the decorative engine cover. The engine code is found on the drivers side front on the engine block.
You may also find the engine code on a sticker attached to the cylinder head. However, over time the numbers become very hard to read.

32 Valve Models: You may need to remove the center and drivers side decorative engine covers. The engine code is found on the drivers side of the cylinder block directly above the power steering pump. No picture currently.
40 Valve Models: You'll need to remove the decorative engine cover. The engine code is found on the passenger side of the cylinder block underneath the intake manifold vacuum valve. As pictured below.
