The recommended GM oil change interval for the Chevrolet Colorado diesel engine is 7,500 miles or one year, whichever occurs first. However, Blauparts recommends an earlier oil change interval depending on difficult driving styles and conditions. An earlier GM oil change interval is good preventative maintenance to minimize long-term engine repair costs. Our oils and filters are suitable for a longer oil change interval of up to 10,000 miles or more for individuals with a mild driving style.

What GM Engine Oil Type Should I Use In My Engine? We suggest always using oils that indicate a General Motors oil quality specification on the bottle (Example: Dexos1 or Dexos2). Dexos1 or Dexos2 oils have been created with your vehicle's engine design and style. General Motors-approved specification oil will significantly improve your vehicle's mechanical longevity and performance. Many engines that use generic engine oil will likely have premature mechanical problems later in mileage (For example, premature oil consumption, worn engine internals, blown and worn turbochargers, prematurely plugged crank ventilation and PCV systems, plugged diesel particulate filters and catalytic converters).

What's the difference between a General Motors oil that meets an oil specification and one with OEM approval?
