How To Find Out What Type of VW Oil To Use

Wondering how to find out what type of VW oil your model uses?

VW oil recommendations, specifications, quality standards, and oil viscosity weight are specified in your owner's manual. If you have lost your owner's manual and are having difficulty determining what type of motor oil to use you may wish to refer to our BLAU® VW Oil Change Kits, which match the correct VW oil for your specific model. What VW Oil Type - How To Find VW Oil

NOTE: Many pre 2004 VW owner's manuals did not list the actual VW oil spec (e.g. VW 502 00). Older manuals many only list the SAE (Society of American Engineers), API (American Petroleum Institute), and ACEA (European Automobile Manufacturers Association) specs. Read more about VW oil spec history.

Ravenol Motor Oil

Synthetic VW Oil by Ravenol of Germany

Revolutionising Motor Oils and Lubricants!

Ravenol mixes and bottles their own proprietary blend and brand of lubricants to the highest European O.E. standards within their own refinery and factory in Germany. In the USA most oils offered in large retail superstores are not manufactured by the brand name shown on the bottle. With a focus on price above quality, many massive oil corporations outsource, having a generic refinery bottle the oil for them. This isn't the case with Ravenol fluids. Ravenol is unique in that they produce their own fluids ensuring total quality control.

Formal Factory O.E. Approvals

It goes without saying that Ravenol products meet the highest quality specifications. Their products are API and NMMA listed and are always found on the DEKRA approval list, published every year. Ravensberger Schmierstoffvertrieb GmbH is certified in accordance with ISO/TS 16949. Ravenol carries Formal Factory O.E. Approvals from many of the world's leading manufacturers, such as:

  • VW / VW(VAG)
  • BMW
  • Porsche
  • Mercedes-Benz
  • Chrysler
  • GM
  • Volvo

I’d like to know what the intervals is for synthetic oil changes are for 2014 VW Jetta
Answer from Huri of the blauparts technical team:
The factory recommended oil change interval for the 2014 VW Jetta is 10,000 miles. However this has to be with an oil that specifically state on the bottle that it has Volkswagen Approval. This means the oil quality is higher then most off the shelf oils and has been tested and approved by VW (Example: VW 502 00). Check your owners manual to see the exact oil specification you should use for the engine optioned in your Jetta. Different oil specifications are used if it is a gasoline or diesel engine. We also offer oil change kits which include the specified oil and filter for your Jetta. Just follow our search by model option or follow this link. (http://www.blauparts.com/products.asp?cat=4409)

What weight oil would u suggest for a 1915cc motor for a bug.
Answer from Huri of the blauparts technical team:
We would think the Ravenol RRS 5w 50 oil listed in our parts department on our website should work. This is a ester based oil and not a full synthetic. We thinking the 50 weight aspect of this oil would be appropriate for air cooled applications.
